My Christmas Tree is still up!

I've been obsessively playing with the Kindle that dh got me for Christmas. I was in a lull from studying spanish, but now with Spanish books and dictionary loaded I can read and just move the cursor to words I don't know, and with luck, the dictionary recognizes them and tells me in a little screen at the top or bottom of the page.

Plus I've been buying or loading free books. Yikes! Its a time sink!

Meanwhile my beautiful pillow fabric sits waiting to be sewn.

I'm making a commitment to myself to post the newly made pillows and other things next week, Tuesday. I do so much better with deadlines.

I didn't see one of my friends until after Christmas, and Ididn't have the right size box for her gift so I made a little house with a roof that opens up out of some old file folders. I glued stones on the eaves so the box would stay closed. Little houses could be decorated differently for other occassions. Here it is:

What's the longest you've left up your Christmas tree? I'll tell my date next post.

  1. Last year we left ours up until the first week in February, I think. That is my LEAST favorite chore in the entire world, taking down the Christmas tree and decorations. Seriously, I hate it. Big time.

Well you sure have been busy and good for you for learning another language too. Have you done it online or in classes I wonder?

Well its ok to have your Christmas tree still up. Mine came down yesterday and that probably is the latest I've done. I normally do it on New Year's day.

A few years ago I left my white tree up past valentines day! I took the pink ornies off and added red and hearts and called it a valentine tree! Hey it worked for me! :-)

    Happy New Year,
    Hugs,

  8. Not crafty, not one little bit, but love the little house!!! Keep your tree up as long as it makes you happy... or all the needles fall off :)

  9. Hi Kathy! Thanks for stopping by my blog! Thanks for your kind words too!
My tree is still up; I like to leave it up till after the new year. The latest? Probably mid-january.
Love your box idea. I used to take as much thought into wrapping xmas gifts as I did the gift--but those days are gone! Now? Whenever the creativity hits me! Paula

  10. We leave our tree up till the last city pick up date...which I think is 18th Jan this year. Ours is in the dining room and its so dark and dreary outside we love the welcoming warmth of the lights. I would keep it till March if I could. Its also one of my least favorite jobs.

  11. Cute box idea.

Our tree always styas up way later than it should. It's still up and not showing any signs of being disnatled! It's on my list for this weekend. I've had the tree up as late as January 20-something!

  12. Happy new year to you, too! We still have our Christmas tree up as well. I think we like to believe it keeps us in the holiday spirit. ;)

I love the little house. Is it an ornament?

  13. Oh wow, it must be a lot bigger than it looks, if it's made out of folders. What a cool and creative idea. :)

  16. I am feeling much better after reading these posts. My tree is still up. Hope to have it down by this weekend. It went up slowly and it is coming down slowly. I am still enjoying it tho. I think Bob is getting a little tired of it. He has offered to help but knows I am too persnikety to accept his help. I CHF and after the busy holiday season I am struggling to get things done. But it is OK.

Love the gift boxes and looking forward to the pillows. Hugs, Ginger
